A special tasting experience for the 2021 Arterra Norton Release!!
Norton has been in the Virginia Wine Scene for decades. The conversation around this interesting grape has evolved over the last several years, especially as winemakers and grape growers contend with Climate Change and look to more sustainable varietals.
As more information comes out from research around this grape, growers are now seeing the differences between Norton and Cynthiana and using the strengths of both in breeding programs. Norton certainly caught Jason’s attention as a grape worth learning about.
In partnership with the Macey’s (Mike and Oya) farm outside of Middleburg, Jason and Mike work together to use his 1/2 acre of Norton and Cynthiana to experiment on organic grape growing for the vineyard and exploring ancient techniques in the cellar.
In this unique tasting experience, Jason will lead you through a conversation around all of these points as well as learning about his journey with Norton, his cellar decisions up to date and where he wants to go with it in the future. Taste through 4 vintages of Arterra Norton as well as several others from a few VA wineries. Enjoy a Mediterranean influenced pairing specially curated to compliment the flavors and tannins of a Norton crafted with Ancient winemaking techniques!!
